So here’s the scenario. You activate a new plugin, or upgrade an old one and your site breaks. It breaks so badly that you can’t even login as an administrator to fix it.
Whether the source is a plugin conflict or just badly written code, you need to fix things fast. Here’s a sure-fire way to get things working quickly.
The first thing you need to do is fire up your FTP software, and connect to your site. This will allow you to manually change the files in your hosting directory.
Navigate to the plugins folder, which you will find in the wp-content folder.
Making a note of the most recent plugin you installed or updated, find the plugin folder and rename it. You can rename it to anything you like.
Once WordPress can’t find your plugin folder – as it was registered - your plugin will automatically deactivate, allowing you to log-in to your site.
The next step you will need to take is find out what that plugin is conflicting with, so that you can isolate it, or downgrade your version. Check the plugin’s website to see if you can find any support notes to show why it caused you problems.
